A little further on, cross the railway bridge then go through a gate on your right. Follow the track for about 150m, turn left and walk back across the field. On the hillside up ahead are the remains of Pibble Mine, the biggest of its kind in the district, where copper and lead were extracted. Pass through several gates then turn right, following the track away from Pibble Cottage. At the next junction, turn left heading back towards Creetown. Follow the quiet road through open country, with views to the hills. After Chapeltown Farm the White Cairn, a prehistoric burial mound, is visible on your left. On reaching the crossroads, turn right onto the old military road downhill back to Creetown.
